Alaska Food

Salmon, halibut, and king crab dominate Alaska’s food identity, reflecting direct access to cold-water seafood. These are typically prepared simply, grilled, smoked, or baked, letting the ingredient carry the dish. Game meats like caribou and moose also appear, especially outside urban centers. Berries such as blueberries and salmonberries are used in desserts and preserves. The food list is narrower than most states, with emphasis placed on freshness and sourcing rather than variety.
