Chad Food

Millet, sorghum, and stews define Chad’s food identity. Staple grains are prepared as thick porridges or dough-like bases, served with sauces made from vegetables, meat, or fish. Okra and peanut-based sauces are common, adding texture and flavor. Meat consumption varies by region, with fish more common near Lake Chad. Dates and simple breads also appear, especially in northern areas. The same foundational foods repeat across the country, shaped by climate and available crops.
