Colombia Food

Arepas, rice plates, and hearty soups form the backbone of Colombian food. Bandeja paisa stands out as a heavy, mixed plate with beans, rice, ground beef, chorizo, fried egg, and plantains. In coastal areas, coconut rice and fried fish are common, often paired with patacones. Ajiaco, a chicken and potato soup, is closely tied to Bogotá, while sancocho appears across regions with different meats and ingredients. Empanadas and street snacks are widespread, with variations depending on location. Coffee and panela-based drinks round out everyday consumption.
