Ecuador Food

Rice, beans, and plantains form the backbone of Ecuador’s food identity, usually served with chicken, beef, or seafood depending on the region. Ceviche is a major staple along the coast, prepared with shrimp or fish and served with citrus and sides like popcorn or plantain chips. In the highlands, dishes like llapingachos (potato patties) and hornado (roast pork) are more common. Soups play a central role across the country, often serving as a primary component of meals rather than a side. The structure of food remains consistent, with variation driven by geography rather than entirely different dishes.
