South Korea Food

Rice, fermented vegetables, and a rotating set of shared dishes define South Korea’s food structure. Kimchi appears at nearly every meal, alongside rice and soups or stews like jjigae. Grilled meats such as bulgogi and samgyeopsal are common, often cooked at the table and eaten with lettuce wraps and sauces. Side dishes (banchan) create variety within a consistent format, changing daily while maintaining familiar structure. Noodles and street foods like tteokbokki add additional layers, especially in urban areas. Fermentation and seasoning with gochujang and soy-based sauces shape the overall flavor profile.
